July 2012 -- Stay tuned for more info!

5 - 8 p.m: Bikemania - Kids' activities

7 - 11 p.m: Cyclefest - Tour de France's Stage 19 on the big screen, plus a beer garden, BMX stunt show and more!

Location

Warren G. Magnuson Park, on the lawn near the entrance on NE 74th St. Please bring your own chairs and blankets.

Rain or shine, the event will go on! If weather is suspect, we'll move into the adjacent 500-seat theater at 9 p.m.

Schedule of events

Join us for the biggest Tour de France-inspired festival on the West Coast! This annual family-friendly event is a great occasion for relaxing with your family or friends over a picnic. For one day a year, we close down a block within the park and throw a giant bike party!

Cyclefest and BikeMania!

Bikemania will once again be partnering with Cyclefest and the Magnuson Community Center to bring you an afternoon of kids’ bike games, riding and entertainment. Bikemania will feature an awesome schedule of events, including a high-flying BMX stunt show by top pro rider Nick Halsey and crew; bike carnival games with lots of prizes; a treasure hunt and a bike parade. All kids should bring a bike (and helmet), and their parents or guardians must sign waivers. Bikemania questions can be directed to Jenny Almgren.

Following Bikemania, Cyclefest Outdoor Cinema makes its return to the park. This year we’ll be showing the most treacherous mountain portion of the Tour de France – Alpe d’Huez. This stage is often a crucial turning point in the tour, so you won’t want to miss it! The rebroadcast of Stage 19 will begin at dusk – about 9:15 p.m.

  • Watch pro BMX rider Nick Halsey and crew perform at a special 8 p.m. show
  • New this year, check out Orkestar Zirkonium, Seattle’s popular Balkan-inspired, mobile, brass-and-drum band. They’ll be playing at 6:30 p.m. in the Magnuson Park amphitheater, and again at 8:30 p.m. in front of the big screen at Cyclefest.
  • See amazing TDF mountain-top action on our 20-foot-wide inflatable screen, under the stars!
  • Hear commentators extraordinaire Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen make the call on our four-speaker surround-sound system.
  • Enjoy a frothy New Belgium beverage in the massive beer garden with hundreds of your fellow race fans.
  • Eat at one of our two fabulous food booths or bring your ownpicnic.
  • Sip on a Jamba Juice smoothie and support a great cause! A percentage of proceeds from smoothie sales will go to the Cascade Bicycle Club Education Foundation.
  • Browse at our many fun vendor booths for cool stuff.
  • Purchase a drawing ticket for a chance to win a top-of-the-line Lapierre bicycle and other great prizes.

Cyclefest and BikeMania are produced thanks in large part to the support of you, our members, now 14,000 strong. Please join the club by visiting our booth at the event. We also thank our event sponsors, New Belgium Brewing Company, Seattle Bike Supply, Lapierre Bicycles and the Magnuson Community Center of the Seattle Parks Department.
